**Hold Sterling Global accountable if any crisis arises due to their dismissive attitude- Ogorugba declares

An international Oil Company, IOC, Sterling Global operating in Isoko North Local Government Area has shunned the meeting invite by the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. Godwin Ogorugba following a labour dispute between the company and indigenous workers in the area.

Hon. Ogorugba expressed dismay over Sterling Global’s handling of the ongoing issues with the Fitters and Welders Association of Nigeria, describing their treatment of the indigenous workers as unacceptable.

The Isoko North LGA Boss Stated this Thursday April, 2025, during a meeting with the Association at the Council’s Exco Chamber, Hon. Ogorugba notes that the meeting was intended to include representatives of Sterling Global, but the company failed to honour the council’s invitation.

According to him “It is quite troubling that a foreign company, which should be working in partnership with the government, is instead showing disregard for dialogue over an issue that could have been peacefully resolved at the discussion table,” he said.

Hon. Ogorugba declared that Sterling Global’s management should be held accountable if any crisis arises due to their dismissive attitude.

“We invited both Sterling Global and the Fitters and Welders Association of Nigeria to this meeting, yet the company failed to show up. This is highly unfortunate, especially since the matter touches on peace and security in the area.”

Speaking on behalf of the Association, Zonal General Secretary Comrade Morrister Idibra stated that the Nigerian Local Content Act provides for the engagement of local professionals, yet Sterling Global has continuously sidelined them in favour of employing Indian workers for jobs meant for locals.

He appealed to the Executive Chairman to take swift action on the matter.
