Delta NAWOJ Humanitarian Projects; Nwaobi Impressed With Girl-Child Education, Health Sensitization awareness
The Chairman, Nigerian Majority Leaders’ Forum/Majority Leader, Delta State House of Assembly and member, representing Aniocha North Constituency, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi has expressed his support to the humanitarian projects of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Delta State Chapter, affirming that he was impressed with the group’s agenda on Girl-Child Education, Women, Health Sensitization programme on World Malaria Day (25th April) and advocacy for Persons With Disabilities.
He made the assertion when the Executive members of NAWOJ paid him an advocacy visit in his office on Tuesday 30th January, 2024, to solicit his collaboration on some of their lined up programmes.
Hon. Nwaobi pledged to collaborate with NAWOJ based on the fact that he is in the business of training young children who are underprivileged as a result of loss of either of their parents or both.
He stated that the Girl-Child in particular must of necessity be given the best of care in order to prevent some of the negative vices associated with girls not properly brought up in terms of value system.
His words, “I am training a lot of children at various levels of schools up to the university level, who are on scholarships under me. I know how it feels when these children, especially the girl children couldn’t access education because of the circumstances of life. Apart from one of these children whose parents don’t have the means to send her to school, the others lost their fathers or both.
“I am sympathetic to the plight of the less privileged children; and for this reason and that of your health sensitization programme proposed for my Constituency, I will support you with my own little token.
“Again, as the House Committee Chairman on Information, I want to ask that you do your best to balance your reportage as professionals. I like the adage that says that, “whatever a man can do, a woman can do better”. On this note, I want to believe that you are doing your own professional job credibly”, Hon. Nwaobi advised.
Earlier in her submission, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Sonia Unobunjo had congratulated the lawmaker on his election victory and subsequent emergence as the Majority Leader of the 8th Assembly.
She said that the essence of the visit was to collaborate with him on their proposed World Malaria Day Campaign/Sensitization Project in Aniocha North Constituency on the 25th of April, 2024.
Unobunjo also informed the lawmaker of their intention to confer on him the Patron of NAWOJ during the NAWOJ Press Week in March.
