NRFF mourns over the passage of former President, Oba Aderemi Adedapo
It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Kabiesi Oba Aderemi Adedapo, the revered Oba of Ido-Osun, who passed away on May 18th, 2024.
Oba Aderemi Adedapo was a distinguished leader and a pillar of the community, known for his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the people of Ido-Osun. His reign was marked by numerous contributions to the development and welfare of his people, leaving an indelible legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
Beyond his traditional duties, Oba Aderemi Adedapo was a prominent figure in Nigerian sports, having served as the President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation from 2005 to 2009. His leadership and passion for the sport were instrumental in promoting rugby in Nigeria, ensuring Rugby debuted as a medal winning sport at the 2006 National Sports Festival (Gateway Games) and inspiring countless young athletes.
Speaking on his passing, President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, Dr. Ademola Are, stated, “His passing is a profound loss to the sports fraternity, especially to rugby, given his significant contributions to the growth of the sport and his unwavering commitment to the community.”
“As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with service, compassion, and achievements. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire Ido-Osun community during this difficult time.
