Ika South Council Chair, Ehiwarior Charges NAIS Members On Good Conduct
Students of Ika origin in different higher institutions of learning across Nigeria have been urged to always be good ambassadors of Ika Nation.
The advice was given by the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, when the newly elected executive members of National Association of Ika Students, NAIS, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Agbor, Ika South Council headquarters.
Whilst congratulating them on their emergence as students’ leaders, the Chairman charged them to be upright in their dealings with their  colleagues, saying that was the only way they could maintain good relationship with members of the association.
“Your success as executive NAIS will be anchored on your ability to conduct yourselves with utmost responsibility and commitment to the interest of your members who, incidentally, are your brothers and sisters.
“You must, at every point, carry every member of the association along in all you do. Leadership is all about service, and you must prove it by your actions and utterances. At no time should you exhibit autocratic tendencies, as some do when given opportunity to hold public office. Let humility be one of your major attributes. That way, you will succeed in your assignment as executives of NAIS.
“You must be able to handle your various offices in such a way that not only Ika students , but the people of Ika Nation, will be proud of you.
“I will implore you to see your new positions as a grooming platform to unleash your leadership potentials. You have your life ahead of you. Make good use of this great opportunity by doing things that are right and acceptable to those you are leading,” the Chairman added.
Engr. Ehiwarior reminded them of the trust the members had placed on them and advised that they deliver on the mandate given to them.
Earlier, the newly elected President of the National Association of Ika Students, NAIS, Comrade Ifeanyi Godsent Ebubechukwu, applauded the Local Government boss for making the youths proud by his superlative performance in the different offices he had occupied, especially as Commissioner for Power, and now, as Ika South Local Government Chairman.
He disclosed that the students community, particularly students of Ika origin, were happy to identify with him, adding that his performance in less than five months as local government chairman “speaks a great deal” of his commitment to the well-being of the people of Ika South.
He urged the chairman to remain focused on delivering the dividends of good governance to the people, assuring him of the support and prayers of the entire Ika Students.
