2023: Sovereignty lies with the people not any leader – Aniagwu declares

Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Charles Aniagwu on Friday said ultimate power to elect leaders lies with the people and not the decision of any leader.

Aniagwu who was reacting to the chants of “Atiku, Atiku, Atiku” at Ibadan during the flag-off campaign for the re-election of Governor Oluseyi Makinde said at a news conference in Asaba that the era of leaders deciding who to be voted for was over as sovereignty lies with the people.

He stated that the reaction of majority of the people at the Ibadan rally was an indication that Atiku Abubakar and his running mate Dr Ifeanyi Okowa were the preferred ticket to rescue and rebuild Nigeria from the ruins of the APC-led Federal Government.

“You saw what happened in Oyo State yesterday, when one man tried to ascribe to himself the powers to decide who the people will vote for but the people expressed their democratic right which is  very clear that Atiku Abubakar is their choice.

“We have said severally that our train has left the station but because we have very quality breaks we can always stop to carry hesitant passengers.

“So we will continue to appeal to our leaders, the G-5 governors to sheath their sword and return back to the main fold of the party and join hands with the party to actualize the mission of recovering and rebuilding Nigeria.

“Those who mobilised them did not foresee what they saw and it goes to show that no one man can boast of deciding how the people will cast their votes.

“As we speak I am sure you have seen the level of inflow of people, in this case notable Nigerians from other political parties to the PDP

“We must commend our party faithful in Oyo State for demonstrating that Atiku Abubakar is the right choice for Nigerians.

“We still have time for any of the Presidential candidates who wish to step down for Atiku Abubakar and because we have promised an all-inclusive government they will not be left out as their ideas will be harnessed to achieve our mission of rebuilding this country,” he said.

On the endorsement of Labour Party Presidential candidate by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark, Aniagwu said that the party was not worried as the ultimate power to endorse candidates lies on the people who have already endorsed the Atiku-Okowa ticket across the country.

“As a Presidential Campaign Council we do not begrudge the Labour Party candidate nor the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on the position taken by the former president.

“Our presidential candidate and his running mate are very much aware from the onset that we were going into a contest with other contestants.

“But we are confident of victory because we have the competitive edge to be able to win because Atiku Abubakar and his running mate tower above other contestants in terms of their experience and antecedents.

“All the candidates have their qualities but like you know in any examination some will score C and some A, both of them have passed the examination but one scored better, Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa are in the A region as far as this election is concerned.

“So if there is an endorsement coming from our former President and Chief Edwin Clark, we recognise that democracy offers freedom of expression as guaranteed in our constitution and if that be the case we do not begrudge anybody endorsing anyone.

“We have already received a whole lot of endorsements from numerous Nigerians who, the ultimate power to endorse resides.

“And because we have continued to interface with the people across the country, most Nigerians understand that Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa tower above other candidates in the contest,” he stated.

Aniagwu stressed that the party would not join issues with anybody castigating the former President or any other person for that matter for speaking out as to their preference.

“What we are interested in is that most Nigerians understand that Atiku Abubakar is in the A region of the endorsement box to be able to bring  us out of the woods

“One thing is that  every Nigerian irrespective of political parties understand the very parlous state of our country whether in the area of the economy, insecurity or our unity.

“Since we all agree that we have these challenges, the only issue we are yet to agree on is how we intend to address them but when you begin to tick the candidates experience and manifestos, Atiku and Okowa have what it takes to take us from our current situation,” Aniagwu added.

Delta berates Omo-Agege over warning to banks

Delta Government on Friday slammed Deputy President of the Senate and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over a purported letter warning banks to stop advancing loans to the state government.

Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Charles Aniagwu who spoke at a news conference in Asaba said Omo-Agege has no right nor powers to stop the government from carrying out any constitutional action.

Aniagwu said the state government operate an open government and have been transparent and accountable to the people in all its financial dealings.

He said that the APC candidate had failed to tell the people what he intends to do but rather resorted to personality attacks on the governor who was not on the ballot with him.

“First of all, Omo-Agege is not in a position to warn anybody. He is not even a Governor-elect. So on what grounds is he issuing warnings?

“Secondly, you recall that the Bridging Finance that we asked for, we followed all the processes. We do not go through the back door if we need any facility nor just go to the banks.

“So it is not the Social Media that you would hear. Any time that there is a need for us to talk about a facility, we follow the process. First, there would be an EXCO approval, upon which we will go to the House of Assembly.
“After we get an approval from the House of Assembly, we also ensure that we observe all the conditions precedent.

“The N100 billion that was approved, we have not finished accessing it, so how can he now wake up to say that we are now asking for N40 billion?

“So if the man wants to campaign, let him go and tell Deltans what he wants to do; not peddling stories that do not add up.

“You have been in this state, there has never been anytime we take any facility without making it public, because part of the processes includes briefing the media at different levels of the process.

“Imaging somebody who is supposed to be the number two law maker in the country, is warning a bank in the state. He does not even know where his powers stop,” Aniagwu stated.

Aniagwu further said when other leaders were with their constituents during the Christmas and New year celebrations, Omo-Agege absconded and travelled out of the country because he was shying away from celebrating with the people.

“He just returned from the oversea trips to fire a wrong salvo and we are urging and advising our brother who forgot that he was supposed to represent us in Abuja.

“All our federal roads in Delta are totally impassable and while others have been busy negotiating what to take home for their  people he was very busy trying to approach the mace of the Senate.

“As a party in the state, we are campaigning based on what have done and on the credibility of Sheriff Oborevwori from the streets of Delta where the yellow revolution is organic in nature.

“We need to remind Omo-Agege that Delta State is home to PDP and if he wishes to contest election in the future he should return to the party and possibly wait until after Oborevwori’s tenure,” he said.

Thank you.

Okowa deplores Gas Park Project abandonment

Vice-Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Delta, Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, on Wednesday deplored the abandonment of Gas Revolution Industrial Park project in Ogidigben in the state by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Federal Government.

Addressing a mammoth crowd at Ogbe-Ijoh during the party’s local government campaigns in Warri South-West and Udu Local Government Areas of the state, Okowa also slammed the APC administration for the moribund Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja now Premium Steel Company.

He said that as important as the gas revolution park was to the nation and the world, the Buhari administration had failed to ensure its realisation.

He pointed out that the world was moving towards gas as alternative energy source, but lamented that the Federal Government’s ineptitude had put the gas project in jeopardy.

The PDP vice-presidential, however, assured that the Atiku-Okowa ticket would make the project a top priority when elected.

According to him, when optimally harnessed, the gas potential in Warri South West Local Government Area and other oil-bearing communities would significantly boost the nation’s economy and the state as well as the local government areas.

He said that the APC administration lacked creative ideas on how to diversify the economic base of the nation which would have put the nation on a pedestal of sustainable growth and development.

“For over seven and half years, the APC-led administration has failed to bring the Gas Revolution Industrial Park in Ogidigben to reality because they don’t understand the economic potential of the project.

“This is why we must have our own person in Abuja so that we can ensure commencement of the project.

“Let’s vote the PDP to ensure realisation of the project. It will be one of the major projects we will embark on once we take over.

“The whole world is moving towards gas and we have it in abundance and I can assure you that we will focus on it because many countries are looking for gas and we have it in abundance.

“If elected, the Federal Government, under the PDP would pay special attention to the enormous gas in Warri South West Local Government which has been abandoned by the APC administration.

“A PDP Federal Government, if elected, would harness the vast gas potential in the area and other oil-bearing communities in the country to strenghten the economic base of the nation which will also trickle down to the local government areas that produce oil.

“APC has finished Nigeria with their inept administration and we will not allow them to kill us before we act. So, let us vote them out with our PVCs,” the governor stated.

On Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja, Okowa assured that the PDP would join hands with the core investor, Premium Steel, to revive the moribund company.

“We are already talking to Premium Steel; the state government may invest in the company for the sake of our people that will be employed there,” he stated.

He commended his predecessor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, for his contributions to the party’s campaigns saying, “the work you are doing in reconciling members of our party, we are happy with it and we can’t thank you enough”.

Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Kingsley Otuaro, said he was grateful to Governor Okowa for the construction of Aladja-Isaba road, Madagho Sport road and interventions at the Maritime University, Okerenkoko.

Otuaro said Warri South-West would not disappoint the party, and assured that they would vote for all candidates of the party as they had always done.

Former Governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, lauded the people of Warri South-West for being very peaceful and commended Okowa and Otuaro for their contributions to peace and development of the area.

At Udu, the former governor decried the mismanagement of Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja and urged the Vice-Presidential candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, to work towards reviving the company, when elected.

Governorship candidate of the party, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, commended Otuaro for his laudable contributions to the governance of the state, assuring that he would advance the state further with his M.O.R.E. Agenda.

He said the party had never lost election in Warri South-West and urged them to maintain the status.

In his remarks, State Chairman of the party, Chief Kingsley Esiso, said Deltans had resolved not to vote for people with questionable characters.

He said that Deltans would vote Sheriff Oborevwori as governor because he would live with the people and transform the state with more development projects.

Director-General of the State Campaign Council, Chief Funkekeme Solomon, commended the people for their consistent support for the party since 1999 and urged them to vote all candidates of the party in the elections.

At Otor-Udu, a former APC chieftain and aide of the Deputy President of the Senate, Benjamin Sharta, along with hundreds of his supporters, dumped the APC for the PDP.

He said that they left the APC because of the dictatorial leadership style of APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and lack of progress in the party.

FG bringing Rule of Law to ridicule, says lawyer as Itsekiri leaders petition AGF over NDDC Board

*urge Umana not to inaugurate Onochie, Ogbuku

Top Itsekiri leaders on Tuesday advised President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Umana Okon Umana, to resist the urge to defy the judicial process by refraining from conducts which will render nugatory issues presented by Chief Edward Ekpoko, and Engineer Victor Wood who are representing the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought and Mr. Edward Omagbemi who is representing Omadino Unity Forum to the Court.

‘We have done all that is required of them by submitting for judicial consideration and determination their grievances against the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government, it behooves these Arms of Government to resist the urge to defy the Judiciary and indeed the judicial process by refraining from conducts which will render nugatory issues presented by our Clients to the Court’’.

They also advised the Federal Government not to inaugurate Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as same will not only jeopardize the outcome of the litigation process but concomitantly operate to completely erase the confidence reposed in the Judiciary by the common man and a clog in the wheel of the administration of justice.

‘’We have cause to believe, as documentary evidence clearly suggests, that the Federal Government through the Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, is making frantic and brazen efforts to inaugurate Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as the substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission despite the pendency of the suit as well as several applications, and order made by the Court, with the sole aim of stealing a match, stultifying the ·court process and bringing the Rule of Law to ridicule’’.

In a letter to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the leaders urged the Federal government not to proceed with the inauguration of Mrs Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as the Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

‘’As the Chief Law Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and a strong proponent of the Rule of Law, you will not in any way advise the President and indeed the Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, to proceed with the inauguration of Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku on January 4, 2023, as the Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the NDDC and or concretize their positions, pending the outcome of the adjudicatory process already initiated by our Clients’’.

The letter written by Ama Etuwewe (SAN) & Co, Solicitors to the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality ably represented by Chief Edward Ekpoko, Mr. Edward Omagbemi and Engineer Victor Wood, the leaders urged the Minister of Justice to counsel the relevant parties on the need to allow the judicial process take its course and refrain from taking steps which will ridicule the Rule of Law and further weaken our nascent democratic structure.

‘’The attendant implications on the faith and belief of the common man are dire and would almost be dampened if the Executive and the Legislative Arms of Government continue to bond towards shattering the fabric and fibre of the judicial process upon which true democracy is enshrined; which the Judiciary seeks to mend and this certainly does not bode well for the Rule of Law if a precedent of Executive and Legislative disregard to court orders, is so easily displayed with impunity, just before the forthcoming general elections’’.

Titled: RE: Pending suit filed by the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality; Order of the Federal High Court Abuja, together with an application to set aside the purported screening and confirmation of Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the NDDC by the Senate of the National Assembly carried out on December 21, 2022, in the face of the processes and order of court in suit NO. FHC/ABJ/CS/2294/2022, in which you are a party, the leaders urged the executive arm to comply with the judicial process.

‘’Having fought to ensure that there is peace and stability in the Country, it would be manifestly antithetical to the goals of this Administration of which you are a key player, if solely for a refusal to await and comply with the judicial process, all the Executive has worked for in the past seven (7) years, translates to naught’’.

The leaders reminded the Attorney General of the need to stay every action that will adversely affect the outcome of the adjudicatory process.

‘’As the Chief Law Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a party in the suit, you are doubtless aware of the position of the law which is to the effect that once there is a pending litigation, all parties to the suit are expected to stay every action that will adversely affect the outcome of the adjudicatory process so as not to render the said process a nullity and foist upon the court a fait accompli’’

The grouse of the Itsekiri leaders is that since the inception of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2001, the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality having over 21 oil-producing communities and producing about 58% of the crude oil in Delta State and 17% of the Country’s crude oil production, which is doubtless a major contributor to the Crude Oil and Gas Resources in Nigeria, which by virtue thereof, the Itsekiri communities suffered and continues to suffer the attendant environmental degradation, loss of livelihood as well as destruction of their farmlands and water resources, have their woes compounded by the marginalization suffered in the hands of the Federal Government of Nigeria that has repeatedly failed to consider any Itsekiri nationals competent to occupy the positions of Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the NDDC despite having previously afforded other ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta States the opportunity to fill such positions.

Upon the dissolution of the NDDC Board in 2019 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, the NDDC, according to the leaders, has been run by various interim administrators with acting Managing Directors who hail from other oil and gas producing communities and states to the exclusion and continued marginalization of the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality of Delta State of Nigeria.

According to them whilst the pains of marginalization of the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality remained unaddressed, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on November 22, 2022, or thereabout, forwarded to the Senate of the National Assembly the names of Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as Chairman and Managing Director respectively, amongst other nominees of the Niger Delta Development Commission’s new board, for confirmation.

This development, the leaders said, did not meet the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality well as Mrs. Lauretta Onochie whose name was forwarded by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a Deltan no doubt, hails from Onicha-Olona Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, a NONOIL AND GAS PRODUCING area of Delta State, and whereas, Chief Samuel Ogbuku whose name was forwarded as the Managing Director of the NDDC Board hails from Bayelsa State, is contrary to an established rotation arrangement in accordance with the NDDC Act. By the said rotation, it is the turn of Delta State by extension the ltsekiri Ethnic Nationality, to produce the next Managing Director of the NDDC.

Displeased by the unlawful actions of both the Executive and the Senate of the National Assembly to nominate, screen and confirm Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as the substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Itsekiri leaders filed SUIT NO. FHC/ABJ/CS/2294/2022: CHIEF EDWARD EKPOKO & 2 ORS. v. THE PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA & 5 ORS, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on December 12, 2022.

The Itsekiri leaders in the said suit, in which the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and your humble self are the 1st and 2nd Defendants respectively, are seeking a declaration that by virtue of Section 4 and other enabling sections of Niger Delta development Commission (Establishment, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), it is the turn of Delta State to produce the next Chairman of the Niger-Delta Development Commission.

They are seeking declaration that by virtue of Section 12(1) and other sections of Niger Delta development Commission (Establishment, Etc.) (Amendment) Act, and the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), it is the turn of Delta State to produce the next Managing Director of the Niger-Delta Development Commission.

A Declaration that the nomination of the 5th Defendant who hails from a non-oil producing area in Delta State as the next Chairman of the Niger-Delta Development Commission is unlawful and contrary to the intent and purpose of the Niger-Delta Development Commission Act.

A declaration that the nomination of the 6th Defendant as the next managing Director of the Niger-Delta Development Commission is unlawful for being contrary to the intent and purpose of the Niger Delta Development Commission Act.

An order quashing the nomination of the 5th and 6th Defendants as the next Chairman and Managing Director respectively to the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, by the 1st Defendant, as the said nomination is contrary to the spirit and intendment of the Niger Delta Development Commission Act 2000 as amended.

AN ORDER restraining the 3rd and 4th Defendants from screening and confirming the 5th and 6th Defendants for the positions of the next Chairman and Managing Directors respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission as their nomination by the 1st Defendant is contrary to the spirit and intendment of the Niger Delta Development Commission Act.

A declaration that by virtue of the provisions of the Niger-Delta Development Commission Act, 2000 as amended, the Plaintiffs as suitable members of the ltsekiri nationality of Delta State are qualified to be nominated as the next Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger-Delta Development Commission. Any further order(s) as this Honourable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstances.

The Itsekiri leaders on December 12, 2022, filed an ex-parte application seeking the following reliefs from the Federal High Court, Abuja, to wit;

An order of interim injunction restraining the 3rd and 4th Defendants from screening and confirming or taking any further steps to screen or confirm the nomination of the 5th and 6th Defendants as the next and substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), ,Pending the expiration of the statutory (three) Months Pre-action Notice already issued on the 3rd and 4th Defendants and or the hearing and determination of the motion on notice already filed.

AN ORDER directing that the STATUS QUO ANTE BELLUM be maintained by the 3rd and 4th Defendants, their servants, agents, privies, employees and committees concerning the screening and confirmation of the 5th and 6th Defendants as the next and substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) pending the expiration of the statutory (three) Months Pre-action Notice already issued by the Applicants on the 3rd and 4th Defendants on November 30, 2022 and or the hearing and determination of the motion on notice already filed.

An order granting leave to the Plaintiffs to serve the 5th and 6th Defendants with the originating processes in this suit by substituted means by advertising the processes in at least one National Newspaper circulating within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and to deem same as proper service.

Any order or further order as this Honourable Court may deem fit to grant in the circumstances.

As is customary, the Itsekiri leaders accompanied the ex-parte application with a motion on notice filed on December 12, 2022, seeking the following reliefs to wit;

An order of interlocutory injunction restraining the 3rd and 4th Defendants from screening and confirming or taking any further steps to screen or confirm the nomination of the 5th and 6th Defendants as the next and substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit AND/OR AN ORDER directing that the STATUS QUO ANTE BELLUM be maintained by the 3rd and 4th Defendants, their servants, agents, privies, employees and committees concerning the screening and confirmation of the 5th and 6th Defendants as the next and substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit. Any order or further order as this Honourable Court may deem fit to grant in the circumstances.

The Federal High Court on December 15, 2022, in refusing reliefs 1 and 2 of the Itsekiri leaders’ ex-parte application filed on December 12, 2022, ordered the parties in the suit not to take any step that will render nugatory our Clients’ pending application for interlocutory injunction filed on December 12, 2022.

The Court also emphatically ordered that any act or step or action taken in order to render nugatory, the outcome of our Clients’ motion for interlocutory injunction filed on December 12, 2022, and scheduled for hearing on January 11, 2023, shall be a nullity. A copy of the said Order has been duly served on all the parties including your office.

Despite the fact that all the Defendants were served with the originating process, the Itsekiri leaders application for interlocutory injunction and the order of the Court restraining all parties from acting otherwise, the leadership of the Senate of the National Assembly proceeded to screen and confirm Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as the substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively, of the Niger Delta Development Commission, on December 20, 2022.

Further displeased by the brazen act of the National Assembly in proceeding defiantly to screen and confirm Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as the substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the Niger Delta Development Commission in gross and total disregard to the order of Court restraining all parties from taking any step capable of rendering nugatory, the Itsekiri leaders’ motion on notice for interlocutory injunction,, the Itsekiri leaders on December 22, 2022, filed an application at the Federal High Court seeking inter alia the following relief;

AN ORDER setting aside the purported screening and confirmation of the 5th and 6th Defendants on December 20, 2022, by the 3rd and 4th Defendants during the pendency of the order of this Honourable Court delivered on December 15, 2022, restraining the parties from taking any step that may render nugatory the outcome of the Applicants’ pending application for interlocutory injunction.

Whilst the suit and in fact their most recent application to set aside the screening and confirmation of Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku as Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the NDDC by the Senate of the National assembly has not been determined, the Itsekiri leaders are aware and already in the public domain, that the Honourable Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs is making plans and has circulated letters to that effect, to inaugurate Mrs. Lauretta Onochie and Chief Samuel Ogbuku on January 4, 2023, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, as ·the substantive Chairman and Managing Director respectively of the NDDC. The Minister has hinged his brazen disregard of the order of the court and the due process of law, on the purported approval of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who is the 1st Defendant in the suit under reference.

Furtherance to the reliefs being claimed by the Itsekiri leaders in the suit, there is a pending application filed by the Itsekiri leaders seeking an injunction against the Defendants for an order of Court restraining the Defendants from taking steps capable of rendering nugatory the pending application for interlocutory injunction and an application seeking to set aside the confirmation made by the Senate of the National Assembly, which step more to undermining the Judiciary’s role and the Rule of Law, has pre determined the issues presented by our Clients for judicial determination in the substantive suit.

Ijaws did not adopt any candidate for Governor in Delta says -Orubebe

The Director General of the All Progressives Congress Delta State Governorship Campaign Council, Godsday Orubebe has rejected the claim by an Ijaw leader Alaowei Bozimo that the Ethnic nationality has adopted the PDP Governorship candidate for March 11th 2023 Governorship Election in Delta State.

Speaking in a Meeting of Ijaw Leaders in Warri, Mr Godsday Orubebe stated categorically that it is only the Ijaw National Congress that speaks on behalf of the Ijaw People and not an individual.

He alleged that the Ijaws have not benefitted much from the PDP led Administration since 1999 to deserve such endorsement.

Few Days ago former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo who is also a leader of the Ijaw Ethnic nationality said the Ethnic Nationality has adopted the PDP Governorship Candidate in Delta State, Sheriff Oberevwori, ahead of the March 2023 Gubernatorial Poll

But at this meeting of some Ijaw leaders, the Director General of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate in Delta says only the Ijaw National Congress can speak for the Ijaws and clearly such adoption by anybody including Alaowei Broderick Bozimo is null and void.

The Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs further called on all Ijaws in Delta State and elsewhere to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the current deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, as governor of Delta State for a better deal as the duo will turn the fortunes of the Ijaws around as they have track record that is obvious for anyone who is not blinded by bias to see.

He said the two will not only protect the interest of the Ijaws as an ethnic group in Nigeria and the Niger Delta as a whole but ensure the sustainable development of Nigeria in all ramifications and Shared prosperity for all Nigerians which will help in reducing poverty to the barest minimum.

Oborevwori preaches love at Christmas, urges moderate celebration

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship standard-bearer for the 2023 general elections and the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has implored Christians across the world, particularly Deltans to show love to one another as they celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

He also urged moderate celebration among Christians during the festivities.

This is contained in his Christmas message to Deltans as released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Dennis Otu.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate who is also the Deputy National Chairman of Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures said that Jesus Christ is the symbol of God’s love for His children and that as we celebrate Christmas, “We, as Christians should not forget to spread same love as represented by Christ himself who is the reason for the season”.

Furthermore, the Speaker noted that Christians should scale down and be moderate in celebrating the Christmas as a result of the country’s worsening economy.

He tasked the rich and wealthy in the society to use the opportunity of the Yuletide season to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged by assisting them, affirming that there is a silver lining in the sky.

The Gubernatorial Candidate wished Deltans and residents a joyful Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.
