Niger Delta Ex Militant Leaders Condemn COPDIND Group, For Allegedl Blackmail against PINL, Pipeline Surveillance Contract Firm

*Urges public to disregard such cheap blackmail claimed by the group

**Want PINL to continue the war against pipeline vandals, oil thieves in Niger Delta

The Niger Delta Anti-Pipeline/Crude Oil Theft Taskforce Group, NDAPOTTTG, Wednesday, blasted a group called Coalition For Peace and Development in Niger Delta, COPDIND, over alleged lies and cheap blackmail against Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Company, PINL, and condemned the publication made on some national dailies.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National Coordinator, NDAPOTTT, GEN, FIAWEI PATHFINDER (AKA) GEN OSAMA, where he described the allegations as unfounded lies and intentional blackmail by the President of the group, one Mr Atama Mien and Secretary of the group, Mr Tamuno Long-John to tarnish the image of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Company.

GEN OSAMA said: “Niger Delta Anti-Pipeline/Crude Oil Theft Taskforce Group and it’s leadership condemns in strong term a purported cheap blackmail written as statement emanating from an unknown self-acclaimed group, called Coalition For Peace and Development in Niger Delta, COPDIND, led by its so-called President, one Mr Atama Mien, and Secretary of the group, Mr Tamuno Long-John, “We want to say that the duo who made the statement and published in national dailies are very far from the truth and all blatant lies from the figment of their imagination.

“We express our disappointment over selfish reasons, as these two have displayed and danced naked in the market square without having the facts they claim they have and went on to publish libelous things that can cause them a jail term, for alleged blackmail and perpetrating false information to ignite public unrest. “Their claims are terribly falsely fabricated lies and cheap blackmail which are intentionally in trying to diminishing the credibility and image of the PINL Company because of sheer barbarism and mischief orchestrated to cause disaffection bad blood between the stakeholders in the host communities and the company.

“Their purported claims which include alleged neglect by the management of PINL is a big lie and it is from the pit of hell. We as major stakeholders in pipeline protection and fight against vandalism and crude oil theft know the great role played by the Management of PINL in the Niger Delta region that handles the Trans Niger Pipeline, TNP, in some parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, and Imo States including Abia State. “It is very unfortunate that some unscrupulous disgruntled elements in the Niger Delta region always toe the line of selfishness, falsehood, mischief, and pull-him-down syndrome. These have made the region to remain backward.”

The group warned in strong term that, “To this end, we remind these group of disgruntled elements whom we already known that are behind these devilish unpatriotic unholy barbaric wicked act, peddling false allegations and cheap blackmails to scuttle the good job done by the management of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Company, PINL all this while by courageously at the forefront in the war against oil thieves pipeline vandalism and their sponsors in the region to standstill, henceforth stop and retrace their footsteps from such evil publications and falsehood against the management of PINL, If not we will be tempted to go after them one by one and declare them as enemies to the war against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft and as enemies to the fragile peace being enjoyed in the region.

And will not hesitate to tag them enemy to the progress being achieved by the PINL company within the short period in this operation, and will join forces with the law enforcement agencies to fish them out from there hideout, and they should allow us to let the cat out of the bag because these persons who are behind these devilish unpatriotic barbaric wicked condenmable act are also beneficiaries of the PINL surveillance operations in the region. Source of information available before us is that, these persons are also planning to organize a protest Against the management of PINL in other to course tension in the region and public unrest, and for their own good they have been advised to desist from such evil plot, let the truth be told, we will not going to fold our hands to keep quiet sit down and allow them to carry on such act. A word is enough for the wise.

“We also urged the management of PINL to continue the great job it is doing to keep the nation’s oil infrastructure safe and productive to run the engine of the economy, because even the blind could see and testify the laudable good fight PINL surveillance Contractor is doing, especially for courageously fighting against the menace of Pipeline Vandalism and Oil theft to a standstill, we pledge our full support and throw our full weight behind the management of PINL as synergy to actualize the mandate given as terms of the contract.

He (FIAWEI) also known as OSAMA, made it clear that the allegations are open for anybody to investigate because as far as we are concerned all these allegations are baseless and falsely fabricated to seek attention in other to make money as their usual method which are already on the know of the company, therefore it is nothing to worry about, either depend on them, which according to him, the management of PINL has been one of the foremost indigenous companies in the oil and gas sector operating in the region and making great impact in the lives of the people in the region, which they have become a household name.

“For clarity’s sake, it behooves on us to make Nigerians know that the management of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, PINL, over the years established a sustainable cordial working relationship with host communities on the TNP run off way, and leaving none behind, whereby the relationship has blossomed seamlessly. We also make bold to say that PINL is not just a company but an institution established for the betterment of the lives of the people in the region and carries out their well-articulated projects and programmes that have immensely impacted lives of all ages.

“It is evident that a cordial working relationship with the Oil Producing Communities and stakeholders who have been the hosts to the Trans Niger Pipeline TNP, run off way has been on and sustained for many years without breach of any of the social contract as a well established reputable organization that is transparent, accountable trustworthy and operates on achieving on it’s set mandate as a competent Company with capability.

“Hence, the records are there to show that before the PINL Company kick started the Trans Niger Pipeline Surveillance job in Bayelsa, Rivers, Imo and that of Abia States, there was a serious of stakeholders engagement meetings between the management of PINL and the host communities’ youths, traditional rulers of various kingdoms, village heads, community chairmen, women groups and various youth organisations.

“Including all ex-militant leaders who are from these communities were not left out, as far as critical stakeholders and opinion leaders across the region are concerned, which included Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Ijaw National Congress, INC, both former and present serving presidents of IYC and that of INC, were all engaged for proper understanding and smooth working operations, even MOSIEND was not left out in the scheme of things as far as the operations and engagements of critical stakeholders are concerned.” Therefore we may want to ask at what time date and venue, that the management of PINL enter into any agreement with these faceless criminal minded group called, Coalition Of Organization For Peace and Development in the Niger Delta?COPDIND,

He (FIAWEI) also known as OSAMA added that PINL was the first company even IOC’s to come to the rescue of the devastated flood victims and their communities in Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Imo and some parts in Abia States with millions of Naira worth of relief materials that gave the people hope and calmness before other organisations started coming in to render their assistance.

Therefore, at this juncture we seize this opportunity to emphatically recognize and commend the laudable magnificent achivements and impact made by the management of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited Company, PINL, so far in the last six to seven months of this pipeline surveillance contract job, most especially in the area of winning the war against pipeline vandals and Oil thieves in the region, and for closing down most of the dangerous flash points used by these syndicates for illegal Bunkery activities in Bayelsa Rivers, some parts in Abia and that of Imo state, And in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, (CSR), And now crude oil production have seamlessly increased to the volume of 1.6 to 1.7million barrels daily due to the tireless efforts and sacrifice been Contributed by PINL, which is also appreciated and recognized by the Chief Executive Officer NNPC Limited Engr, Mele Kyari.

“It is also on record that the Chief Executive Officer/Corporate Managing Director of PINL, Mr Osahon Okunbo a bonified Niger Deltan, an oil giant, the son of late Captain Hosa Okunbo who is one of the well respected known leaders that immensely contributed to the economic growth, peace stability and Development of the Niger Delta region at all times before his demise, Mr Osahon personally led other top management staff of the company to distribute relief materials worth millions to a billion Naira to victims of 2022 devastating flood, which affected over 300 communities in seven Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State; 200 Communities in four Local Government Areas of Rivers State; and Imo State.

“The relief materials distributed by the PINL management to the over more than 50 communities across the three States of the the company operational areas, that were affected by flood include bags of Rice, thousands of Indomie noodles cartoons, Bags of Garri, bags of Salt, cartoons of Maggi, jerry-cans of vegetable oils, thousands of Mattresses, huge number of treated mosquito nets, footwear, thousands of clothing with drugs and many others.

“Also, hundreds of scholarships were given back to most of these communities that cut across the Trans Niger Pipeline TNP, all these are part of commitments to strengthen Community/Stakeholders engagement in order to maintain and keep a safe healthy and smooth cordial working relationship with Communities and Stakeholders in the region.

Meanwhile, the leadership of Niger Delta Anti-Pipeline/Crude Oil Theft Task Force Group, NDAPOTTTG, specially recognized the role Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwase the iii, played as being the chairman of the company, for well designed framework articulated strategies by the management of Ocean Marine Solutions Company has set in motion the wheels to drive huge production capacity of oil majors in the Niger Delta region, which has also boost revenue generation for the Federal Government that was earlier sabotaged by evil-minded persons at the detriment of the entire nation”, he stressed.

Nigerians Must Not Allow Senator Binani’s Mandate To Be Stolen In Adamawa

By: Jesutega Onokpasa

The desperation with which former Vice President Atiku Abubarkar and his Man Friday, Adamu Fintiri, both of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, are trying to steal the mandate the astonishingly progressive and history-making people of Adamawa State have freely and clearly given to Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Adamawa State, is just as unconscionable as it is most diabolical, to say the least.

These two utterly shameless and obviously also impotent clowns have so completely decomposed into total irrelevance and irretrievable inconsequence that they are now constrained to strive against a woman they had long derided and sought to belittle, as if they were fighting an army of the most fearsome giants!

Finding themselves entirely disgraced by her widespread acceptance by the people of Adamawa, who, by that same token, have rejected them in the most glaringly unmistakable terms, there is nothing, including the kitchen sink, that they have not brought to their puerile fight with this “mere woman” that has quietly and most unobtrusively put them to shame.

In the process, and to prevent Ms Binani from being declared winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, they have orchestrated all manner of the most diabolical shadiness to contrive an inconclusive election that Binani had actually won but which they are insistent on stealing from her against the choice of the good people of Adamawa!

Can you imagine the Cameroonian indigene of Dubai, who insists he must rule over Nigeria, deploying all of these against a woman!

May God curse anyone who tries to deprive Senator Binani of the mandate the good people of Adamawa have so admirably given to her.

The results released so far, which unaccountably have Fintiri in the lead, were clearly padded by the PDP to steal a woman’s mandate.

That is how utterly miserably fallen art the once mighty PDP!

INEC must thoroughly audit and review these results in the next few days and restore them to the actual figures that properly emanated from lawful voting in the various polling units which have Senator Binani in an unassailable lead.

This travesty must not stand; Senator Aishatu Binani is already effectively and irreversibly the Governor-elect of Adamawa, having trounced and roundly defeated the utterly disgusting and disgraceful Mr. Fintiri!

Indeed, shame on Adamu Fintiri, Atiku Abubarkar and any other pathetic excuse for a man, out there, shamelessly trying to steal this victory from this most exemplary gem and trailblazing jewel of a woman.

May all the real men in this country arise against this most diabolical insanity right now!

We must not allow Senator Binani to be robbed of her mandate by scoundrels and godless men aiming to intimidate her against the will of the people of Adamawa.

Indeed, all of us real and authentic men left in this country must all activate and rally to manifest intervention in this matter, even as we stoutly stand against any attempt to steal the mandate of our exemplary sister, Aishatu Binani, in Adamawa.

We would have become a total and unmitigated disgrace as a nation if we allow a bunch of highly irritating and utterly despicable men to muscle a woman out of her victory.

It is now our collective duty as a nation of real men to immediately mobilize and rally round Ms Binani to ensure she emerges winner at the end of this process in Adamawa.

Ms Binani’s triumph is the pride of all of us as a nation and we must uphold her victory, no matter what.

Aishatu Binani is now our collective Amazon and most beloved sister as a nation of conscientious men and women striving toward a better and stronger union.

Indeed, Senator Binani, by her victory, has become a national icon in the history of this country.

To the incoming Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, herself, I exhort her not to be deterred, for this mandate is hers according to the will of God and the vote of the Adamawa people, and that’s the end of the matter.

Aishatu Binani, girl child of triumph, smasher of glass ceilings, woman of the people, bringer of promise and hope, even the one who brings pride to the homestead, we, the real men of this country, greet you!

Needless to say, we assure you that this mandate will not be taken from you and you are the next Governor of Adamawa State.

Bayo Onanuga Is Anything But An Ethnic Bigot

By: Jesutega Onokpasa

Contrary to the preferred narrative of a mixture of ethnic champions and rather quite clueless commentators, out there, Bayo Onanuga’s tweet exhorting Ibos to refrain from meddling in Lagos politics, going forward, even at face value, is anything but bigoted or, howsoever, ill willed.

When Mr. Onanuga’s professional background and manifest personal orientation are brought into the equation, the seemingly coordinated attempts to tag him an ethnic bigot fall flat on their face.

Indeed, whatever his detractors are aiming to achieve they will fail in dressing Onanuga in what is only actually their own robes.

Bayo Onanuga is a world class journalist, hero of the struggle for democracy and a fine gentleman by any measure.

His tweet might indeed have come across as somewhat stark but having worked with him for a while now, what I would probably ascribe to the obsessively forensic lawyer in me, has often noticed a degree of demarcation between what he types on a phone, such as a tweet or WhatsApp message, and what he types on a computer, such as a news report, press statement, or newspaper article.

I’m not too sure but I figure I come across just the same typing on a computer or phone though I actually find typing on a phone far easier.

In any case, there is really only so much you can say vide a tweet and personally, I rather prefer to make myself abundantly clear through full-length articles capable of showcasing a concise adumbration of my standpoint.

That said, Onanuga actually meant well vide his message to the Ibos, and, the Onanuga I know would have put up the exact same tweet with the appropriate substitutions if it had been a bunch of Yorubas who had marched off to Anambra, Abia or elsewhere in Ibo land, denigrating those places as “no-man’s-lands” and purposing to “capture” them from the aboriginal Ibos for the settler and immigrant Yoruba.

If truth be told, certain people are in the totally offensive and most obnoxious habit of referencing Lagos, and quite frankly other places, for that matter, as “no-man’s-land”, and while this is by no means something all Ibos do, the bitter truth is that the overwhelming majority of those who do so happen to be Ibos.

That is apart from the fact that those overwhelmingly more likely to stand for elections in places that are not their ancestral homelands, also just happen to be Ibos, as well.

Needless to say, the indigene/settler tensions in our country must be holistically and imaginatively addressed but we must countenance no illusions about the reality of our situation.

The notion that any person, regardless of ethnic, indigeneship, settler and similar considerations should be able to run for office anywhere in Nigeria is quite high-minded, lofty and most romantic, but it is also miserably pedestrian, quite kindergarten, utterly idiotic, obviously nonsensical and altogether unworkable within the praxis of our extant Nigerian reality.

Short of being dragged, kicking and screaming, by the indigenous Aworis, Eguns, Saros and Ijebus of Lagos to occupy the office, I would never dream of standing for election in Lagos, even as local government counselor, just as my tribespeople back home in Delta could not tolerate some Lagosian coming to preside over our political affairs.

My old friend, Donu Kogbara, was on Arise Tv, sanctimoniously upbrading Onanuga for his tweet, as if her village people back in Ogoniland would tolerate an Ibo trader becoming their local government chairman, when they most certainly wouldn’t even stomach me, their fellow Niger Deltan, coming all the way from Delta to take up such a role in their native Rivers!

This wokism that ends up only really papering over cracks and intimidating everyone into a Gobbelian conspiracy of silence is the worst fascism and a veritable recipe for utter disaster.

All it ever achieves is a contrived and utterly useless peace that is sooner than later quite dreadfully upended when the suppressed and unaddressed tensions that were all the while simmering just beneath eventually explode unto the surface.

It is most hypocritical and totally unhelpful to the effort at healing and reconciliation for truth to be supplanted by falsehood as is very much the case with emergent and widespread approaches to a very serious problem.

There was a clear and unmistakable ethnicist agenda championed by a major and rather quite loud and uncouth section of Peter Obi’s supporters this election cycle with the active encouragement of Mr Obi, himself.

That despicable agenda failed spectacularly and now the perpetrators are accusing the reactors of being the perpetrators and yet, at the same time, calling for healing and reconciliation!

Yes, let there be healing and reconciliation but both will be impossible vide despicable attempts at rewriting history.

If truth be told, our beloved Igbo compatriots badly require much soul-searching, even a wholesale reevaluation of their worldview and attitude to other Nigerians, especially with respect to how they bring up their children to view other tribes and ethnicities with whom they share one country.

The expectation that people should stomach insult and denigration from others of a different ethnicity and not react in ways that are invariably problematic is as idiotic as it is unrealistic.

If you are an immigrant/settler in a place and are so empty-headed as to say to your indigene/host “without me your town wouldn’t be developed”, it would be entirely fair, just and equitable in the circumstances – quite apart from being compellingly natural – that he should retort: “I never invited you to come develop my town for me – go back from whence you came and develop your wasteland of a homeland”.

The problem at hand did not begin with others baiting or profiling the Ibos – that is all reaction; the problem at hand began with a section of the Igbo most unconscionably baiting and profiling others across this country but especially so in Lagos!

That truth is critical to resolving the problem.

Oborevwori’s victory’ll enhance sustainable development in Delta – Aniagwu

*Says Oborevwori would continue with ongoing programmes, policy of Okowa administration

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu on Tuesday said that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would further sustain the development trajectory in the state.

Speaking at a news conference in Asaba, Aniagwu said the party and the state government were grateful to Deltans for their overwhelming support which culminated in Oborevwori’s victory.

According to him, Oborevwori would continue with ongoing programmes and policy of the Okowa administration while also introducing its own programmes.

“The Governor and the Governor-Elect and indeed the PDP are all grateful to Deltans for this show of love and for the appreciation of the sterling performance of the administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the street credibility of Sheriff Oborevwori and the fact that PDP is in the DNA of Deltans.

“What has happened in this election is that Deltans have been able to repel surgically the incursion into our political DNA. As an administration and the incoming administration will not take this for granted.

“We are happy that we won fair and square in all the Senatorial Districts and that we got overwhelming support of Deltans and those who live here with us in the Northern, Southern and Central Senatorial Districts.

“This victory will spur the PDP to not only sustain the development trajectory that has characterised the Okowa led administration but to embark on a process that will indeed bring more development just like the Agenda of Sheriff Oborevwori.

“A good number of the programmes that the Okowa led administration pursued will be sustained even as new programmes and policies will also be brought on board for the purpose of reaching out to our people,” he said.

He said the administration and the party have learnt lessons in the course of the electioneering campaign and the election proper and promised to make amends for the good of the people.

“We have learnt lessons in the course of this electioneering period, we have seen the need to further connect with our people in the rural communities, to further empower our youths, and by providing more laudable projects for the people and pursuing a more united Delta agenda.

“We congratulate our opponents for putting up a strong fight and we urge them to join hands with Sheriff Oborevwori and Monday Onyeme to leave a Delta that is more developed and united than it is now.

“We have as an administration done quite some laudable projects across the state and we can beat our chest that we will be leaving the state on May 29 far far better than we met it.

“We are quite convinced that Sheriff Oborevwori is capable of sustaining these development trajectory and pushing forward a Delta that is far more developed in the nearest future,”

The Information Commissioner further said “the electioneering period have come and gone, although a victor has emerged but for us there is no vanquished.

“We believe that with the support of our brothers who contested with us we can put behind us the bitter experiences that characterised the campaign, the mudslinging that came majorly from the opposition APC and let’s move together in unity to develop our state.

“As an administration we have forgiven those who cast aspersions at us and those who lied by way of propaganda by projecting stories that were at variance with reality.

“Those we may have also offended in the course of the campaign we also plead with them to forgive us and take it as part of the election campaign.

“We appreciate all Deltans for the way they came out to vote and we also appreciate INEC for a better outing than we had in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.”

On the visit of the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Chief Great Ogboru to Government House, Aniagwu described it as laudable and worthy trait from a committee democrat.

“Chief Great Ogboru is a democrat and what he demonstrated yesterday is what was expected of democrats globally.

“Yesterday he was in the Government House because they told him Sheriff Oborevwori was in the Government House. So he came there to congratulate him and wish him well.

“We must commend Ogboru for displaying this very rare trait of a democrat and we are also calling on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to do same by congratulating Oborevwori so that the state can move forward,” Aniagwu added.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, congratulates the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who has victoriously emerged winner of the contest as Governor-Elect.

It is noteworthy to say that having worked so hard for the position, he deserves the winning.

However, it is also pertinent to mention that those who contested with him are all great Deltans who had shown dexterity and capacity to leadership by contesting to contribute their quota to the development of our dear State.

It is Delta State that has won, because in the final analysis, we all remain Deltans – One Great People.
