*** Says President Tinubu Working Hard To Revamp Economy With Well Thought Out Policies, Programmes

The Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), has appealed to those behind the planned August 1st to 10th, 2024 nationwide protest to shelve it in the interest of the nation and people even as he acknowledged that there is hunger and hardship in the country.

The Tantita Boss a press statement on Friday, August 26th, 2024, while adding his voice to all-meaning Nigerians, including traditional rulers, on call to shelve the proposed hardship protest, admitted that it is true that there is hunger and hardship in the country.

But he quickly pointed out that the hunger and hardship never started today, saying that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was working hard to to revamp the economy with well thought out policies and programmes in addressing the issues of the economy and security, which are the bases of other problems in the country.

He said that; “I am aware of Mr President’s efforts to get things right in the country, and truly things are getting better. For instance, there is great improvement in the oil and gas sector in the last one year, which is still the main source of our economy.
I am aware of the right of the citizenry to protest government policies and programmes in any country. It is one sure way for the citizens to participate effectively in governance, by checking the excesses of any government”.

Tompolo added that; “However, the organizers of this proposed hardship protest must know that the timing is wrong, and the protest may cause more harm and good, as security reports have indicated that the protest will be hijacked by unscrupulous elements.

Danger: Over 800 thousand travellers to be affected in France as rail line experience organised massive sabotage

Danger: Over 800 thousand travellers to be affected in France as rail line experience organised massive sabotage

Danger as Over 800 thousand travellers to be affected in France as rail line experience organised massive sabotage in Paris just few hours to the Olympics opening ceremony.

France’s high-speed train lines were targeted by multiple “malicious” acts including arson on Friday July 26, i2024 in what has been described as “an attack on France” and “coordinated sabotage” to disrupt travel ahead of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

According to the CNN, the French state railway company SNCF said in a post on X that “a large number of trains were diverted or canceled,” and asked “all travelers who can to postpone their trip and not go to the station.”

The operator said the Atlantic, Northern and Eastern high-speed lines were impacted, with damage caused to several of its facilities, adding that one of the acts was “foiled” in the east after SNCF agents scared off several individuals.

SNCF CEO Jean-Pierre Farandou told journalists on Friday that cables – which are there to ensure the security of train drivers – were set on fire and taken apart but that authorities “don’t know who is behind it.”

An intelligence source told CNN that French intelligence services are “fully mobilized” to find those responsible. The source added that “these methods have been used by the far-left in the past” but “there is no evidence to tie today’s actions to them.”

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the attack and detailed four separate charges, relating to the damage of state property and taking part in organized crime. Some of the crimes listed are punishable by up to 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine of €300,000 ($325,000).

‘We didn’t need a day like this’
Travel on the affected lines is “very disrupted,” with the railway network needing to divert and cancel a large number of trains, SNCF said. Disruptions – which it estimates could impact around 250,000 travelers today – were expected throughout the weekend, affecting 800,000 passengers, as work crews oversee repairs, it added.

Paris 2024: Canarinhas pip Super Falcons to three points in Bordeaux

The Super Falcons were full of guts and gumption, but a 37th minute strike by Gabi Nunes separated the two-time Olympics silver medallists from the nine-time African champions as the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament got off to a roarious start on Thursday.

Rasheedat Ajibade led the Falcons to the turf of the Stade Matmut Atlantique, as Nigeria’s flag was flown at the tournament for the first time in 16 years, and truly led from the front with some excellent runs down the left of the South Americans. But her team mates at the fore failed to read her moves correctly on the several occasions she sent the ball into the box.

Her final pass, after a brave run down the line in the 7th minute was blocked, and in the 16th minute, she was the initiator of a double-barreled attack on the Brazilian goal that saw Chinwendu Ihezuo’s shot blocked and Christy Ucheibe’s follow-up punched away.

In the 20th minute, Chiamaka Nnadozie saved from the rampaging Portilho, and again read well a long-range drive by Gabi Nunes five minutes later. In the 36th minute, ageless Brazil captain Marta thought she had given her team the lead when she struck past Nnadozie as the Falcons’ defence failed to clear, but she was ruled offside.

Moments later, the Nigerian defence was again caught napping, and Gabi Nunes, set free by a wonder of a pass by Marta, fired past Nnadozie, the ball cantering in from the underside of the bar.

In the closing moments, the Falcons broke forward with a sweet team move, only for Jennifer Echegini’s lift to rise above the opposition goalpost.

On the hour mark, Marta’s dipping curl from the left was thwarted by the upright, and Nnadozie saved from Ludmila three minutes later.

Ajibade forced another smart save from the Brazilian goalkeeper in the 71st minute, and Ucheibe did the same with minutes left. But the Canarinhas held on to pick all three points in the evening.

Next up for the Super Falcons is a clash with world champions Spain – who defeated Japan 2-1 in Group C’s opener – in Nantes on Sunday evening.

A Trailblazer’s Apology by The Uncommon Senate President – Godswill Akpabio

In the heart of Nigeria’s bustling National Assembly, Abuja, whispers of discontent echoed through the red chambers as the social media and women’s organization’s sphere erupted in a tempest of criticism aimed at the esteemed Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio. Accusations of gender bias and derogatory remarks swirled around the distinguished Senate President, threatening to tarnish his reputation and sow seeds of discord in the nation’s political landscape over his caution of Senator Natasha Uduaghan to follow the chamber’s standing rules and ethics.

Amidst the chaos, dissenting voices stood out—and dared to challenge the status quo and confront the Senate President using the social media space to register their grievances, especially the women. Their words cut through the air like a sharp blade, demanding respect for gender equality in the hallowed hall of the red chamber and the political space dominated by men.

But what unfolded next was a testament to the true character of a leader—a sportsman at heart and a trailblazer in spirit. Unfazed by the storm of controversy, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio rose to the occasion with grace and humility, recognizing the pain his words had caused and the importance of leading with compassion.

In a surprising turn of events, he extended a hand of reconciliation to the aggrieved Senator Natasha, on the floor of the plenary, he offered a heartfelt apology. With sincerity in his eyes and a genuine desire for understanding, he acknowledged his missteps and pledged to champion the cause of gender equality within the Senate and beyond.

The news spread like wildfire, igniting a wave of admiration for the Uncommon Senate President who had shown the world that true leadership is not about perfection but about humility, empathy, and the courage to admit when one has faltered.

As each day passes, a transformation is taking place within the Senate—a newfound spirit of unity and respect blossoms, nurtured by the example set by their leader – Senator Godswill Akpabio. The legacy of leading with compassion becomes the guiding principle of their governance, paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all Nigerians.

And so, the Uncommon Senate President’s legacy is not defined by his words or his actions alone, but by the power of forgiveness, reconciliation, and the unwavering commitment to build a better Nigeria for generations to come. In a world hungry for true leadership, Senator Godswill Akpabio has shown that even in the face of adversity, a leader who leads with compassion can move mountains and inspire hearts.

Thus, the Uncommon Senate President has taken his place in history as a beacon of hope, a symbol of unity, and a true champion of the people with uncommon strides.
