Following the rising tension and invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Togo and Gabon two West Africa French speaking countries have joined the Common Wealth Countries.

They were admitted into the organization recently at just concluded Common Wealth Heads of Government Meeting held in Rwanda, Africa.

With the admission of Togo and Gabon into the fold of the Common Wealth the total members countries now 56 countries, the two west Africa French speaking countries were admitted despite being French speaking even though the Common Wealth is for British colony countries spanning through Africa, America. Europe, Asia and Middle East as member countries.

It is however connected to the fear of what’s going on in Ukraine where Russia has invaded the country, the two small African Countries are easily looking to hookup with stronger bodies for help by any external aggression against any of the States.

Submit your arms in 10 days or face bombardment Uzodimma warns, grants amnesty to bandits operating in Imo

.*Says Buhari to commission Owerri/Orlu, Owerri/Okigwe Road, flag-off Owerri/Umuahia Road

*Lay foundation for International Conference Centre

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has granted a10-day window to bandits operating and hibernating in the forests in Imo State to leave the place immediately and surrender themselves and their arms to their traditional rulers for unconditional pardon or face bombardment if they fail to do so.

The 10-day amnesty grace by the Governor is with immediate effect and will be visited with severe consequences if not taken seriously by the bandits.

Governor Uzodimma who spoke at the Government House Chapel Owerri while addressing the congregation after Sunday Service said that government has decided to rid the forests in Imo State of bandits and accordingly, has procured the necessary equipment for the purpose, hence the need for those of them who want to be reintegrated into the society to take advantage of the amnesty and quit now and hand over their arms.

The Governor also said that Imo State will be hosting the annual Army Day Celebration from June 30 to July 6, 2022 and that no fewer than 10,000 military personnel drawn from the Army, Navy, Air Force, the Police, among others would be in attendance.

They would be led by the Army Chief, the Naval Chief, the Air Force Chief, the Police Chief, among others, according to the Governor.

President Muhammadu Buhari who is expected to declare open the Army Day celebration has also fixed July 12 – 13 as the period he would commission the Owerri-Orlu and Owerri-Okigwe roads as well as perform the flag-off of the construction of Owerri – Mbaise – Umuahia (from Fire Service) and the Orlu-Akokwa roads and the foundation laying ceremony of the Imo International Conference Centre in Owerri.

Governor Uzodimma said the new roads will still be handled by Cranburg.

While congratulating Imo people for the relative peace that has returned to the State, the Governor explained that effective Monday, June 27, “Imo State will take delivery of military equipment that will be used to clear the remnants of bandits hiding in various bushes in the State.”

He however gave 10 days to bandits still operating under any cover in the forests to come out of their caves, “where necessary, report themselves to their traditional rulers or their Council Chairmen so that Government will grant them Amnesty.”H

He emphasised that the period of grace will not be extended as those who fail to take advantage of it will have themselves to blame.

The Governor said: “The State is more determined now than before to clear all bandits and to achieve this, the expected equipment and additional recruitment of more Ebube-Agu personnel working in collaboration with the Security Agencies in the State will be used to clear all the waterways and ride the state of bandits including crude-oil theft. All the waterways are under surveillance with the delivery of new Naval Equipment to the Naval Base in Oguta.”

Governor Uzodimma further directed the Interim Management Committee Chairmen of the 27 Local Government Areas in the State and the newly inaugurated 52 Coordinators of the Development Centres to resume fully in their headquarters and cooperate with their members and the Town Union President Generals to drive the Government message on security home.

Furthermore, he reiterated his assurance that the LGA elections will be conducted this year, adding that the ISIEC had been asked to resume the process towards the election.

Governor Uzodimma promised that “the election will be transparent, free and fair and only popular candidates will contest and win.”

The Governor told those aspiring to contest to go and sell themselves to their people instead of coming to loiter around the Government House Owerri seeking for endorsement they will not get.

He said his administration will like to leave behind a strong Local Government System that will stand the test of time.

The Governor thanked the congregation and the people of Imo State for their continued support for his administration, noting that “those who thought that they will destabilise the State have failed and will continue to fail.”

Road to 2023: Imperative of Onyeme’s Emergence as Delta PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate for Ndokwa Nation

Since the creation of Delta State on 27th August, 1991 when Bendel State was split into Edo and Delta States, following the agitations for the creation of a separate, distinct state by the people of the old Delta Province, Ndokwa people have been making frantic efforts to occupy the governorship or deputy governorship positions, but all to no avail.

In 1993, following the lifting of ban on political activities by the President Ibrahim Babangida led military junta and the subsequent general elections which was later annulled, a prominent Ndokwa son was the governorship candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention NRC.

Professor Eric Opia
Was the well known son of Ndokwa nation, who confronted the Social Democratic Party SDP, candidate Olorogun Felix Ibru, in a hotly contested election that was won by the later.

In 2011, another Ndokwa son and current Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, was the deputy governorship candidate of the Democratic People’s Party DPP, and was also not successful.

However, history beckons as a prominent Ndokwa son, Chief Monday Onyeme, has been nominated for the deputy governorship candidate of the People’s  Democratic Party PDP, in the  2023 general elections.

Therefore, the 2023 general elections, especially the governorship contest will not only be interesting but will be significant for the PDP family and Ndokwa Nation in particular.

The 2023 Governorship election is important in the sense that the deputy governorship candidate, Chief Onyeme is a man that is most suitable for the exalted position. He is one of the most influential and popular politicians in Ndokwa nation. A man who has touched many lives positively.

A grassroot politician who is always willing to identify with low and mighty in the community, Chief Onyeme is also a bridge builder with a generous heart. Today, the Monday Onyeme  foundation has made great impacts in the education development of not only in Ndokwa nation, but the entire state in general.

Servant leaders value people for who they are, not just for what they give to them. Servant leaders are committed first and foremost to people—particularly, their followers, an attribute that makes Onyeme to stand out amongst others.

His emergence as the deputy governorship candidate is obviously a great plus to the PDP in Delta state. He has the energy and the zeal and the people believe in him. Most importantly, his emergence like his principal, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will remain a source of inspiration to the young and upcoming politicians that no matter your background, one will definitely achieve that which he is focused on.

Onyeme’s emergence has also rekindled the hopes of those who believe in positive virtues as a way of life, that it pays to be good and generous, no matter the circumstances.

Now that God has placed him in this position it is expected that he should bring everyone on board and reach out to those who probably maybe on the other side of the divide, so that PDP members will approach the general elections as one united family. This way, the election will be seamless especially in Ndokwa nation.

The Ndokwa people on the other hand should reciprocate this kind gesture by mobilizing massive support for the party in the state by ensuring that the party wins with landslides in all the elections, in 2023.

One thing that is certain by God grace is that the Ndokwa nation will break the jinx in 2023 general elections and the doors of opportunities will be open for the overall empowerment and development of the Ndokwa nation.

2023 Election: The Use Of New Machine-BVAS

This is an important message that we must all read and forward to our people and groups.

1. INEC will be using BVAS (Bimordal Verification Accreditation System) in the coming General Election. It is replacing the Smart Card Reader used in previous General Elections from 2015.
2. It means before anyone with a PVC is allowed to cast his vote—the person must be accredited with the help of the BVAS Machine. If the person is not accredited, he will not be allowed to vote.
3. The BVAS accreditation will be through thumbprint and Facial Expression. It means, once a voter’s thumb is placed on the machine, the person’s information on the INEC portal will pop up. If the thumbprint doesn’t work, the BVAS machine will be placed across the person’s face to capture his image-once, it is captured by the machine, the person’s information will pop up and such voter will be accredited to vote.
4. The advantage of the BVAS is that it reduces rigging and electoral malpractices considerably. Now, a voter must be verified that he is the owner of the card before he will be accredited to vote. It is now one man, one vote.
5. This BVAS Machine has been used in different Bye and State Elections i.e. Delta State, Anambra State Gubernatorial Election 2021, FCT Council Election in February, and the recent concluded Ekiti State Gubernatorial Election.

THE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE BVAS MACHINE.

We ran a thorough research on the functionality of the BVAS machine through the reports received from the places it has been used so far for elections.

It’s just a common problem that was discovered: the BVAS machine couldn’t successfully accredit many voters through their facial expressions. Thus, many voters even with their PVCs were disenfranchised in those elections.

This issue affect particularly the aged people and those whose PVCs were given in 2010/2011, 2014/2015. The BVAS couldn’t successfully connect their present images with the ones uploaded years back during the registration processes.

We need to put a preventive measure in place now so that our people won’t be disenfranchised in the 2023 General Election.

SOLUTION

1. I would advise that those whose cards were given 2010/2011, 2014/2015, 2018/2019 should do revalidation which means they should upload their current images on the INEC Registration Portal.

2. The Voter’s Cards from 2010/2011 does not expire. It is permanent. So, you won’t be given a new card if you do revalidation, it only means you have uploaded your recent picture for accreditation purpose in the coming election.

Do You Care About The Future Of Delta State ?

Delta State is bleeding profusely and the level of socio-economic haemorrhage is extremely huge to the extent that every facet of our state as a sub-national is gasping for air. You don’t really need to rack your brain in order to decipher why our beloved Delta State is in a precarious state. All you need do is to recall the profound quote by the erudite management sage, John C. Maxwell when he said; “Everything raises and falls on leadership”.

We have been very unfortunate to have a government in the state for the past seven years that has been principally driven by the vision of self-enrichment and the near-total neglect of the vast majority of Deltans. The indicators of bad governance in Delta State are staring at us all. From the embarrassingly horrible level of infrastructures to weak health care. From the collapsing educational system to the alarming rate of unemployment, amongst others. The feeling of bad governance has caught up with everyone in Delta State. How do one explain the very painful reality that patients in a lot of public hospitals in Delta State now contribute money to buy fuel in order to power their generators? How do we explain that the tuition fees in Delta State University is now between one hundred and eighty thousand naira (#180,000) to around two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000), how many civil servants in Delta State can afford to send their children to the state university without resorting to being involved in corrupt practices? In a similar vein, I often find myself chuckling each time I hear people refer to Governor Okowa as “The Road Master”. I always ask myself if such people were referring to the Delta State on planet earth or whether there is another Delta State in other planets like Jupiter or Mars. Furthermore, pensioners across Delta State who have committed about 35 years of the productive part of their lives to serve Delta State, demonstrated only recently and demanded that Governor Okowa should pay them their pensions which have been pending for years. What can be more inhuman than that? Indeed, a lot of Deltans can now vividly see the wickedness that governance has become in Delta State.

If you think that Governor Okowa has done enough damage to Delta State, then it simply means you have not been paying close attention to recent events in the political arena in Delta State. You don’t need to be a Professor of Politics or a political soothsayer to know that Governor Okowa and his conspirators have a vision to completely annihilate Delta State. This explains why he is desperate to foist on Deltans a candidate that will continue from where he will eventually stop come 2023 and as if that is not bad enough, his preferred candidate has told us to “expect more and that he is going to continue from where Okowa stops”. He has also said that “what he has going for him is not his academic qualifications but his street credibility”. Street credibility as yardstick to become the Governor of Delta State in the 21st century? Are these not signs that the current governor and his preferred candidate do not care about the future of Delta State? If your answer to this rhetorical question is in the affirmative, then you are a patriotic Deltan. It also means that you care
about the future of Delta State.

There is no better way to show that you care about the future of Delta State than actively participating in choosing the governor who will serve the best interest of Deltans and promote good government. Delta State needs to be emancipated. It is on this note that I enthusiastically recommend, The Most Pro-masses Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; The Deputy Senate President for Governor of Delta State come 2023.

Why Senator Ovie Omo-Agege you may ask? I am keenly interested having Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as our next governor (you should too) not because of emotional or “Stomach Infrastructure” reasons but because he has demonstrated beyond measure that he is committed to the well-being of his people. He has shown that he has a burning passion for socio-economic development and creating indelible legacies. With a track record of unparalleled legislative achievements, the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District has shown that uncommon feats can be achieved through effective and people-oriented leadership.

As a Senator without executive powers, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege successfully attracted numerous projects to Delta State like the Federal Polytecnic at Orogun and the elite Nigerian Defence Space School. He also undertook the very resourceful power programme with the aim of ameliorating the problems associated with electricity distribution by installing brand new transformers and replacing obsolete ones in different parts of the state. He also aggressively embarked on mass provision of solar street lights across numerous villages and towns of Delta Central Senatorial Districts. He also focused his passion on deepening educational development by executing remarkable educational and ICT infrastructures in schools like the construction of blocks of new and renovated classrooms, modern ICT facilities, provision of desks and computers to facilitate learning in the different schools across the state. He has built primary health care centers and provided medical equipment to public hospitals. He has constructed various water schemes. He has facilitated different empowerment schemes and programmes for women and youths. There are many more things he has done to show his obsession with making life better for his Senatorial District.

In summary, Delta State is in disgraceful state in all socio-economic indices which is caused by having governance that has been propelled by greed, incompetence and lackadaisical attitude towards the pains and challenges of Deltans. However, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has promised to build a new Delta and reshape our narrations when he becomes Governor by 2023. He has encapsulated his strategy as EDGE ( EMPLOYMENT & EMPOWERMENT, DEVELOPMENT, GOOD GOVERNANCE, ENDURING PEACE & SECURITY).

I strongly believe that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is the solution to a greater and better Delta because his intimidating record of service to his people and his monumental performance are indicators of what he is capable of achieving for Delta State. So, if you truly care about the future of Delta State, you will work and support Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to become the Governor of Delta State come 2023.

With Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as Governor of Delta State come 2023; our EMACIPATION is guaranteed.

My name is Dr (Mrs) Veronica Ogbuagu.
