*College of Commerce is shinning in sports because of physical wellbeing- Oyibo declares

 

The Chairman of this year’s annual Inter House Athletic Competition of College of Commerce, Warri, High Chief Reginald Amadi has expressed  concern over the characters and behaviours of some students across colleges of learning in the State and country.

Chief Amadi raised the concern Friday March 24,  while delivering his remarks at the 56th Annual Inter House Athletic Competition of College of Commerce Warri, Delta State,  noted that some students are resistant to learning which is leading to social vices and deviancy among young people in the society, stressing  that with reorienting of mindsets adequate follow up by parents respite will come and with massive transformation of reward with excellent academic performance the trend will be reversed to encourage true behaviours.

Chief Amadi who is an alumni of College of Commerce appealed to the Principal of the college to bring back the School House of  Chief Kagho, Chief Sido and other notable founders of the college in order to always use it to remember them in their memories.

He showered cash on the winners of the inter house competition in order to encourage students to participate in physical and health education as well sports competitions.

National President College of Commerce Old Students Association, COCOSA, Mr. Kolawole Victor Enijuni in his address assured the Principal and management of College of Commerce Warri, Mrs. Queen Oyibo that the Alma Mata will provide ICT and donate sporting equipment to the school in order to support  sporting activities with teaching and learning. academics combined with extra curriculum activities.

Mr. Enijuni stressed that COCOSA as the umbrella body of the Old Students under his leadership with cooperation from  the executive and members  will do everything possible to always support the school in achieving its goals and objectives , he assured the Principal and the teachers of support , the COCOSA President also charged students to be calm and learn to be good citizens and good ambassadors of college of commerce.

Principal of College of Commerce, Mrs. Queen Oyibo commended invitees and COCOSA members for their support and their attention given to the school , she described the presence of guests as their interest to all-round development  of the children and wards  as they cheer them up.

She noted that inter house sports games are essential part of the college co-curricul activities provided for physical wellbeing of  students which has made College of Commerce to be shining in the field of athletics and football winning Delta Principals Cup back to back as defending champions with buses to show as award among other successes recorded in sporting activities in Nigeria and outside the shores of the country

While announcing the overall  winners, the National Public Relations Officer , PRO of COCOSA and also co-MC at the event, Comrade Celestine Ukah charged the students to imbibe the spirit of good sportsmanship as all are winners , Yellow House  came first position to emerge the overall best with a golden trophy, Pink House second position, Green House third position other houses that participated include : Purple House, Blue and Red House both took, forth, fifth and 6th position respectively.

Zonal Director Post Primary Education Board, PPEB, Warri, Evang. Mrs. Onorien Arawore commended the college for organizing the inter house competition, charging students to take participation of sports as important as their academics in order to get a balance to their studies and have good psychomotor to show their level of prowess in their studies.

Mrs. Arawore urged parents to always tutor their children to be focus and  serious to learn and to also let them know that hardwork pays as education is never a scam as posited in some quarters.

Principal Agogboro Secondary School and immediate past Chairman NUT, Warri South LGA, Comrade Ishmael Ikuejawa, Aboyowa. Jennifer Chairman Essi College Cooperative , PTA representatives, Chief Leo, past students of College commerce under the Umbrella of COCOSA as well as students from  within the college and other schools  attended and participated in  the event.
