The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Dennis has said that the 8th Assembly under his watch has made steady achievements in its first year, ascribing the success to one purpose agenda and focused contributions of members to Legislative duties.

He made this assertion on Tuesday 4th June, 2024, while briefing the press as part the Assembly’s activities marking the first anniversary of the 8th Assembly.

The Speaker said that the designation of Delta State House of Assembly as the Most Vibrant House in Nigeria is not a fluke but a statement of fact, adding that the 8th Assembly would continue to raise the bar in order to sustain that prized national recognition.

Guwor however, reeled out the achievements of the House since inception which included screening and confirmation of members of the State Executive Council, motions and resolutions which are getting implementable attention, giving consideration to 18 Bills so far with nine already passed into law and three assented to among other things.

The amiable Speaker added that what has distinguished the 8th Assembly and made the House thick in this past one year is its ability to conceptualize, brainstorm and produce a Draft Legislative Agenda for the 8th Assembly, which was anchored on the one purpose resolution of members and of course, the passage of the Delta State Persons Living With Disability Law, 2024.

However, while the Delta State Disability Law awaits the Governor’s assent, the Draft Legislative Agenda will be officially launched on Sunday 9th June, 2024, during the celebration ceremony of the first anniversary of the 8th Assembly.
