Delta State Commissioner for Environment Urges Environmental Responsibility During Christmas

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment in Delta State, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro, has extended warm Christmas greetings to the people of Delta State, urging them to prioritize environmental protection and sustainability during the festive season. He also wished Deltans a prosperous New Year in advance.
Mr. Jamani delivered this message at his residence in Sapele while hosting a delegation of youths from Sapele Local Government Area. The youths visited to commend his exceptional leadership and achievements since assuming office as the Commissioner for Environment.
In his address, the Commissioner highlighted the critical role individuals play in safeguarding the environment. He encouraged everyone to take personal responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring safety in their immediate surroundings. “We are the first agents of environmental protection and security,” he stated.
He also urged the youths to educate and correct others respectfully when they observe actions detrimental to the environment. Stressing the importance of proactive involvement, he reminded them to always “say something when they see something.”
In response, the visiting youths expressed their gratitude to the Commissioner for his impactful leadership and enlightening approach. They acknowledged that, prior to his tenure, many were unaware of the vital roles they could play in promoting environmental sustainability. The youths pledged to apply the knowledge they had gained and contribute actively to environmental protection and governance.
The visit is a testament to the collective responsibility and the power of education in fostering a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Delta State.
