Engr. Ehiwarior Calls For Collaborative Efforts To Boost Education In Ika South

 

The need for stakeholders, including parents and guardians, to pay particular attention to the education of the younger ones have been emphasised.

The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, made the call on Wednesday, at the 2025 grand finale and prize-giving ceremony of the Ika South Best Students Challenge for public secondary schools, which held at Ika National Hall, Agbor.

Engr. Ehiwarior while stressing the importance of quality education in the development of any society said it was imperative for stakeholders in the education sector to invest more time and resources to the education of the children, as it remains the most enduring legacy to bequeath them.

He maintained that his administration was committed to improving and advancing the education sector in the local government area, even as he stated that efforts are on to enhance learning environment in the area.

The Council boss expressed joy that individuals and private organizations were begining to get involved in promoting teaching and learning as well as inculcation of moral values in pupils and students.

“I am glad to note the deliberate involvement of individuals and private organizations in the drive to inculcate good morals in children, and at the same time develop education sector in general. It is a thing of joy,” he stated.

Engr. Ehiwarior while expressing appreciation to the organizers of the event, Denkelly Charity and Empowerment Foundation, for the initiative, said his administration would continue to support and collaborate with individuals and organizations in any gesture aimed at improving the lots of the people.

He congratulated the winners and all the students who participated in the event, and encouraged them to strive to achieve excellence in their academic pursuits.

The Chairman later made cash supports to the organization, and the two best performing students.

Earlier, in a brief address the Chairman/CEO of Denkelly Charity and Empowerment Foundation, Mr. Dennis Kelubia Agholor, said the idea to organize the exercise was borne out of the need to encourage academic excellence among students in Ika South Local Government Area.

He disclosed that the foundation was set up to empower people, especially students, to be able to fulfill their dreams, and thereafter contribute their quotas to the development of the society.

Some of those present at the ceremony include, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ika South, Comrade Jerome Arimokwu, Barr. Justice Alizor, Legal Adviser to Denkelly Charity and Empowerment Foundation amongst other dignitaries.
