The Registrar/CEO of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede says candidates writing Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba and Arabic languages are performing abysmally poor in the exams in recent years.

Prof. Oloyede made this known Tuesday May 7, 2024 on NTAi “Good Morning Nigeria” when he was responding to issues bordering on JAMB on “the review of the 2024 UTME”.

He charged relevant agencies in charge to prepare the students and do something more drastic about it in order to see good outcome, just as he added that students taking English , Mathematics, Chemistry and physics are performing very well over the years in JAMB results released so far

In her opinion the Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, Prof. Adenike Oladeji also want the system to reconsider the less the less than 18 admission of students into university.

In his swift reaction Prof. Oloyede insisted that anyone who graduates from secondary school at the age of less than 18 should not be accepted into any university in Nigeria, adding that there’s already existing law against such practice in the country.
