***Leverage on Technological advancement to move MWAN forward- Akpe urges new President

Over 300 Inmates and staff of the Warri Correctional Centre benefitted from the free medicare program organized by the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, MWAN Delta State.

The free medicare which held Friday December 8, featured free consultation treatment on Dental related cases, Opthalmology (Eye ) pregnancy, deworming, skin diseases, diabetes, Hypertension and Malaria and all inmates were administered with drugs all free of charge to handle their different health challenges.

According to the newly installed 9th President of MWAN Delta Stste Chapter, Dr. Olive Ogelle the activities carried out by the Association is for the celebration of the group’s 12th Annual General Meeting, AGM and to also usher in new executive of MWAN.

While delivering her acceptance speech, Dr. Ogelle appreciated the members for their support and appealed for continuous support just as they cued behind the immediate past exco, she rolled out four point agenda in her ,two years tenure which include: To establish well woman clinic to carter for women and children, Improve on Treatment and prevention of Cancer help indigent women, Revamp Medical Women mentorship programme which began in 2016 to help stern the rapid degradation of societal norms, better welfare for members and general purpose.

President Olive Ogelle further solicited for support from members in order to succeed in the next two years of their administration.

Immediate past President, Dr. Aghogho Benedicta Akpe a specialist in Opthalmologist commended members for their cooperation, she described Dr. Ogelle as a nice and hardworking personality, she advised her to leverage on technological advancement to move the Association forward.

Over 200 Hundred students at Yonwuren College, Ugbuwangue, Warri were empowered with self defence skills against gender violence as part of activities marking the 16 days of activism against gender violence celebrated across the world which climaxed December 10.

During the MWAN Delta Chapter Opening ceremony Saturday December 9, which was chaired by Dr. Mrs. Faith Ejegi a Retired Consultant Opthalmologist. HMB commended the medical Women for their unity in moving the association forward, the main Theme was centred on “The Medical Woman: Building Career and Financial Success”speaker, Dr. Bright Djebah urges Medical women to invest while they work as their businesses can be providing them extra income especially in the area of ambulances, transportation trucks for hire.

Dr. Bright stressed his points on the word S.M.A.R.T according to him stands for (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound), he as well reiterated the need for Doctors to have mentors in order to succeed in their businesses.

While the Sub Theme: focuses on “Positive Impact of Social Media Use”, the Speaker, Dr. Toritse Eresanara concentrated on how Women Doctors can use waste to create beautiful art works, noting that old tyres old newspapers and tooth picks can both be used o create art as well as making effective use of productive social media videos on YouTube.
