New Nasarawa Commissioner For Youth, Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta, Resumes Office, Promises Immediate………
The newly posted Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar, officially resumed office today(Monday) amidst pomp and pageantry.
The Commissioner who was recently appointed and inaugurated by the State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, was welcomed by the Ministry’s Staff, who expressed their excitement and optimism about the new leadership.
In his brief inaugural speech, Hon. Kwanta thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve, and pledged to work tirelessly to promote youth empowerment and sports development in the State.
“I am committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive youth and sports ecosystem that provides opportunities for young people to develop their skills, talents, and character”, he stated.
The new Commissioner who also outlined his immediate priorities, which include conducting a thorough review of the Ministry’s policies and programmes, developing a comprehensive youth and sports development plan, and establishing partnerships with key stakeholders, both within and outside the State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, congratulated the Commissioner who was joined by his wife, Mrs. Mercy Kwanta, on his deserved appointment and subsequent posting to the Organization he is familiar with, assuring him of the full support and cooperation of the staff.
“We are excited to work with you, and we are confident that your leadership will bring positive change and development to our youth and sports sector, having garnered series of experiences in the past as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Sports Development”, he said.
Honourable Kwanta’s resumption of office heralds the beginning of a new era in the State’s youth and sports development, as stakeholders will eagerly be awaiting the implementation of his vision and plans for the sector in the State.
Recall that Governor Abdullahi Sule nominated Hon. Kwanta Yakubu alongside fifteen others as Commissioner designates on Monday, 10th February, 2025, got screened by the State House of Assembly on Monday, 16th February, 2025, and inaugurated cum assigned portfolios on Friday, 21st February, 2025.

Highlights of the resumption were special prayers for a successful tenure held by some Christian religious leaders, family members, and well-wishers who accompanied the new Commissioner to the Ministry, inspection of offices within the Ministry, as well as group photographs.
