An Interpol consultant and security expert, Sir Chike Udensi, has alleged that the insecurity bedeviling Nigeria appears to be benefiting those in power, as they have not acted accordingly to address the situation.
Udensi, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Institute of Security Studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik, Awka, while speaking in a live interview on AIT Tuesday, April 29, said he still wonders why the government cannot track down kidnappers in the country, as those involved are conveniently using telephone communication to reach out to their victims’ families and relatives without being apprehended.
The Interpol consultant was analyzing and proffering solutions on how to stop killings and other criminal activities nationwide, revealing that Nigeria’s border is highly porous and needs to be policed with technology and motivation for those in charge.
Sir Udensi also raised alarm over the level of increased firearms in the hands of non-state actors, which has plunged Nigeria into a deep mess that needs to be sorted out immediately in order not to escalate more than it is presently.
He described some of Nigeria’s intelligence as very poor because those involved are not encouraged and are not given the necessary logistics.
