NPFL: Lobi Stars Forward Okafor Denies Comments Reports of Player Attack in Makurdi

Lobi Stars FC suffered an attack during a training session at a school pitch in Makurdi, with players and officials targeted.

Initial reports suggested that forward Onyekachi Okafor expressed concerns about player safety, stating, “I was also beaten by the thugs; there was no safety for the players.”

However, Okafor has since refuted these statements, clarifying that they were misattributed to him. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort to improve the team’s performance, acknowledging the fans’ frustration over recent results.

Okafor stated, “The lingering tension from the fans’ confrontation was a way of showing their displeasure over our recent results in the league. Let us all put hands on deck to ensure we work as a collective group to steer the ship of this magnificent club (Lobi Stars) from sinking.

As a player and a veteran of the league, I’m ready to spill blood and make this team maintain their NPFL status starting with the President Federation Cup Round of 32 fixture against Solution FC in Aba. Lobi Stars’ survival is key.”

Ensuring the safety and security of players and officials remains a top priority for Lobi Stars, as they focus on upcoming fixtures and strive to improve their standing in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
