Abeokuta 2025: Osun Female Football Team to Light up National Sports Festival after Clinching Qualification Ticket

After humbling Team Lagos and playing draw against Oyo in a keenly contested Zonal Elimination Games, Osun Female Football Team are battle ready to compete for honours at the National Sports Festival set to hold at Abeokuta later this year.

With share hard work and determination, Osun Female Football Team came first at the elimination phase. The team’s solid performances in their two games attracted many lovers to them at Liberty Stadium Ibadan.

Goals from Doyin Adepoju in the 2nd minute and Sharon Shomuyiwa in the 68 minutes were enough to put team Lagos to the sword in their first match as they won by 2 goals to 1.

With just a draw needed in their second match against team Oyo, the Osun team were a goal down in the 10th minute with a goal from Faith Ukukwe. The lead lasted just 11 minutes before Victory Odanlumen levelled the score line for team Osun in the 21st minute as the first half ended one all.

Eberechukwu Oleka puts team Osun in front in the 72nd minute from the penalty spot after Aminat Abiola was hacked down in the area.

A minute into the stoppage time, the referee pointed to the spot after adjudging Marcus Grace to have handled the ball in the box. Favour Lazarus made no mistake as she converted the spot kick to draw team Oyo level as the match ended two all.

The draw meant that team Osun finished the elimination phase as the winners with 4 points, Lagos came second with 3 points and Oyo with just a point miss out from qualifying.
