Nasarawa Amazons Pip Abia Angels, Get Quarter-Final Slot In BOWFT
Nasarawa Amazons continued their impressive and heartwarming performance in the group games of the ongoing 2024 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in the ancient city of Benin Edo state.
The Lafia Landladies had previously beaten the NWFL Premiership side, Confluence Queens, and Thursday evening, defeated another top-flight side, Abia Angels, with a late goal at the turf of Western Boys High School in Benin City.
The Lafia land ladies’ new and energetic young player, latest lethal finisher, and top scorer, Akekeromowei Janet, netted the decisive lone goal with a header in the second half of the keenly contested game.
Nasarawa Amazons with a goal conceded in two games are through to the quarter-finals of the pre-season tournament.
The Amazons scored an impressive 5 goals in two matches.
Nasarawa Amazons came to the top of her Group C on a maximum of six points and would meet the runners-up of Group A Remo Star Ladies in the quarterfinals.
The last eight clashes come up on Saturday, October 12, at the Uniben Sports Complex Benin, in Benin City by noon.
According to the Media Officer, Nasarawa Amazons have participated in the last three editions of the preseason showpiece in its fourth year.
