NEDC set to scout for talents, organizes Inter-secondary School Sports Competition

 

The North East Development Commission, NEDC Inter-secondary School Competition is now set to take place across the six states of the North East Zone. The tournament is being organized by the Commission and aims to revive the old Inter-secondary school Competition while also serving as a platform to scout for young talent from secondary schools.

The Project Consultant, Alh. Gambo Mamman, who was a former Director of Sports, explained that the event will be held concurrently across the six states in the North East region. The finals of the tournament will be held in Bauchi State, where winners from each state will compete in all the events.

The sports events included in the tournament are football, athletics, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. The competition will take place at both the state and zonal levels.

During a meeting with the Executive Director of Yobe State Sports Council, Dr. Abdul Raham Ago, the Project Consultant discussed the preparations for the tournament. Dr. Abdul Rahman Ago pledged the council’s support for the event, including providing sporting facilities and technical assistance to ensure its success.

The meeting was followed by a tour of the Sports facilities, which was conducted by the Project Consultant, members of the technical team, and supported by the Executive Director of the State Sports Council and sports journalists.
